On August 17, 2023, Geneva Frances Zito O'Brien-Lopez, 103, of Littleton, CO, got herself a new set of wings. She was born December 11, 1919, to Lucy Catalina & George Zito. She had three brothers, Albert, Lawrence, and Eugene.
She grew up in North Denver, where she attended St. Dominic's Elementary School and graduated from Cathedral High School. Following graduation, she worked at a geological firm before marrying John O'Brien in 1941. Their loving union produced seven children and a busy, welcoming home to neighborhood children and friends. She also was a classically trained pianist, who shared her love of music as a piano teacher.
Geneva was often heard saying, "God loves you, honey, and so do I" to express her boundless love. She played an important role not only in the lives of her children and grandchildren, but to all her nieces, nephews, and the children of their closes friends, the Lopez, Dunn, & O'Connor families, and many neighbors. Lucky for us, those friendships lasted a lifetime. After Geneva and Manuel's spouses passed away, they got together as friends, fell in love, and were married in 1993. Those 30 years of marriage were quite lively with traveling the world and enjoying their time with their expanded family.
With her passing, the world will never be the same, and we are pretty sure neither will Heaven. She lived life with zest and optimism. Her joy for life was contagious and lit up every room she entered. We are rejoicing in her freedom in the midst of grieving her loss. There will never be another one like her. She was an amazing woman and we are blessed to have had her love.
Geneva is survived by her adoring husband, Manuel Lopez; Geneva's children, John (Helga, dec.), Carol (Rich Hugo), Richard (Ruth), Kathy, Joan (Lynn Rowe), Nancy, and Patrice; Manuel's children, Richard (Snow) and Lynn Ann (Keith); 22 grandchildren (her little Chickadees); and 23 great-grandchildren.
