George Bellopatrick Jr.

George Bellopatrick Jr., age 80, passed away on Dec. 26, 2016 in Aurora, Colorado. He was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on July 24, 1936 to George and Anna Bellopatrick (both deceased). He graduated from Mingo High School in 1954. In October 1956, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he spent 8 years. After leaving the Air Force, he returned to Mingo Junction, Ohio to work for Wheeling Steel for two years. In January 1966, he returned to the aviation field working for United Airlines as a maintenance mechanic, promoted to foreman and retired in 1998 after 31+ years. Bored with retirement, he landed a position with Asia Pacific based in Guam as a flight engineer on 727 aircraft. His father sparked George's lifelong interest in model trains, which led to his ownership of a hobby shop and model train business. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bellopatrick; daughter, Laura Bellopatrick (husband, Dan Thornton); son, George Bellopatrick; son, Michael Bellopatrick (wife, Christene Bellopatrick); 5 grandsons (Andrew, Kyle, Brandon, Nicholas and Matthew). He is also survived by his brother, Jay Bellopatrick (wife, Barb); his brother, Greg Bellopatrick (wife, Christina); his brother, Nicholas Bellopatrick (preceded him in death). He is also survived by 5 nephews (Michael, Robbie, David, Todd, and John). George had a special place in his heart for all of his family members, especially his grandson Nicholas.
