George W. Bermant

George W. Bermant departed this life peacefully on May 20th, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Ann, his treasured wife of 28 years, his son Jim (Valerie), grandson Chris (Rachel), and brother Gordon (Geri Lincoln). When George and Ann were married he became a devoted and supportive father to her children as well, so he is also survived by Cindy Josephs, Steve Josephs, Greg (Pam) Josephs, Vicki (Greg) Morris, grandchildren Alex Langhorne, Jeffrey and Bryan Josephs, Sam and Katie Morris and great-grandchild Braden Ridl. George, a native of Los Angeles, was a navy vet and graduate of USC and Yale Law School (1953). Joining the prestigious law firm Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, he specialized in corporate and securities law. In 1981, he opened the firm's Denver office. A frequent lecturer on securities law, he was nationally recognized as an authority in the field. Retiring in 1994, he served on the Ethics Committee of the ABA. Other passions included living and skiing at Snowmass, music, theatre and travel. George generously supported the Denver Symphony, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Denver Art Museum and the American Players' Theatre in Spring Green, WI. George's great sense of humor, enthusiasm for life, and unwavering optimism brightened the lives of all who knew him. He was a remarkable lawyer, a great husband, father and friend. His spirit lives on in the hearts of the many people he touched so deeply.
