George L. Couch, age 87, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
He was born on July 21, 1933 in Bakersfield, California to George and Dora Couch, where he was the third of 10 children.
George enlisted in the United States Navy, from which he later retired. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of The Happy Hoedowners, a square-dancing club at the VFW. He also earned many honors and medals such as, The Meritorious Unit Commendation, The National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, as well as The Korean Presidential Unit Citation.
George is survived by his children: Susan K. (Kevin) Johnson, and Steven J. (Karen) Couch, his grandchildren: Amanda, Chris, Joshua, and Justin, and one great-grandchild, Blake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dora, his wife, Luverne Joyce Couch and his son, Terry S. Couch.
George was a man of greatness, and this could be seen through the words that he lived by: “Duty, Honor, and Country.”
