George ""Hal"" Henkel Retired Dentist Jan. 14, 1929 â Feb. 22, 2012. George ""Hal"" Henkel poignantly passed away on his 54th wedding anniversary. He is survived by wife Ingrid (Denver), daughter Leslie (Denver), son Brant, his wife Monica and their two daughters (Charlotte, NC). Born in St. Paul, MN, raised in White Bear Lake, MN; Jr. and Senior High class president, class Valedictorian, National Honor Society. All State Athletic Squad (record holder in Track); Eagle Scout. Graduated BA BS Macalester College, St. Paul, MN (in 3 years), full academic/athletic scholarship; Magna Cum Laude. Dental Degree, U. of Minn. 1954; Grand Master Psi Omega Dental Fraternity; member of Mensa. Served as an officer with USAF 1954-58; selected as one of 12 dental interns for Fitzsimmons Hospital, Denver, CO, followed by assignment to dental staff, 12th Air Force, Landstuhl Air Force Base, Germany. Practiced General Dentistry in Denver 40+ years. Officer, Board of Directors Denver Dental Society; Assoc. Editor Colo. Dental Journal; Fellow American College of Dentistry; Pierre Fauchard Academy; Federation Dentaire International; Pi Phi Epsilon, Omicron Kappa Epsilon; Distinguished Service Award. Contributed to dental journals; offered clinical presentations in foreign countries, listed in Who's Who in Colo. & Who's Who in the West. With his wife, Hal was an enthusiastic world adventure traveler, seeking remote and sometimes formidable destinations; also an excellent photographer.
