George Jay Irvin, age 70, of Denver, passed away on Thursday February 3, 2022.
George Jay was born on August 24, 1951 to Phyllis and George S. Irvin. After graduating from high school he took college classes in Sterling and Pueblo, Colorado. As a young man, George enjoyed working at his father’s car dealership George Irvin Chevrolet in Denver. George built close bonds with the dealership staff and employees over the years. Later he was employed as a custodian for Denver Public Schools. George was a passionate and dedicated fan of the Denver Broncos. His best times were spent in Mile High Stadium watching games, and his favorite choice of conversation with family and friends was to discuss the team’s players and the current status of the team. George loved animals and always had a dog companion at his side. George’s family always came first and he was a treasure to all who knew and loved him. Known as ‘Uncle Jay’ by his nephews and niece, he was favored for his sense of humor, innocent demeanor, and love of silly pranks.
He was preceded in death by his father, George S. Irvin. Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Barr Irvin of Mesa, Arizona; two sisters, Jill Irvin McLaughlin of Denver and Janet Irvin Mills of Cassville, Missouri; nephews Matthew McLaughlin, Jeremy McLaughlin, Kyle Mills, Justin Mills, niece Morgan Zamora, and best friend, Tracy Ellis.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Horan McConaty Funeral Home, South Denver. No services are scheduled at this time.
