George Alexander 'Papou' Karas

George Alexander ""Papou"" Karas, 73, of Parker, Colorado passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends on May 29, 2011. He was born November 22, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio. George was preceded in death by his parents James and Anastasia Karas and his loving wife of 28 years, Lorrie (Martini) Karas. George married Sylvia Ugolini in 1957, and they were married for 23 years. George, Sylvia and their three children moved to Breckenridge, Colorado in 1971. He later married Lorrie in 1980. They moved to Parker in 1994 to live near his family. George is survived by his brother Costa ""Gus"" (Gloria) Karas; his children Mark (Gwen) Karas, Jeffrey (Heather) Karas and Anastasia (Robert) Gervasi; and ""Papou"" of Nikolas, Zoe, Marina and Michael. Trisagion will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 7:30 p.m., and Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., both at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4610 East Alameda Avenue, in Denver, Colorado. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 South Quebec Street in Denver, Colorado. Memorial gifts may be made in George's honor to St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5555 South Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111; Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4610 East Alameda Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80246; or to Porter Hospice Foundation, 1391 Speer Boulevard, #600, Denver, Colorado 80204.
