George Lancaster

On Friday, February 12, 2021, George Stephan Lancaster, (known as Steve by family and friends), loving husband, father and grandfather of four children and four grandchildren passed away at the age of 74.

Steve was born on June 17, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to George and Juanita Lancaster. He received his Mathematics degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1968, and his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California in 1975, and worked in the Aerospace Engineering industry for 36 years. He served as an LTJG, Lieutenant (junior grade), in the United States Navy from 1969 – 1974 during the Vietnam War. On August 20, 1971, he married Alene Stephens. They raised one daughter, Sandra, and three sons, Brad, Kevin and Kendall.

Steve enjoyed nature; this included a yearly backpacking trip with the scouts, bird watching and taking pictures of the various animals that would visit our backyard. He was an avid science fiction fan, and one of the original “Trekkies”. He rooted for the Dallas Cowboys through good and bad seasons.  He was known for his quick wit, extensive terminology and obsessive need to correct other’s grammar (especially to get a reaction from his children!). He was an ardent reader; his favorite books being The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, which he reread time and time again.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, George, his mother, Juanita and stepmother, Jane. He is survived by his wife Alene, his four children, Sandra, Brad (Crystal), Kevin (Rebecca) and Kendall and his four grandchildren, Izzy, Carter, Vini, and Josie. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 6705 S. Webster Street, Littleton, CO 80128; followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.. Flowers may be sent to Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S.
