George Edward 'Jack' Peck

January 21, 1933 — October 21, 2012

Jack's life began in 1933 in Springs, South Africa, the eldest of three brothers (Jack, Graham and Gordon Peck). Shortly following the completion of his education, he and his best friend Brian set off for England, joining the British Merchant Navy and fulfilling his dreams of traveling the world. In addition to his love of travel, Jack was an accomplished athlete, excelling in track & field (specializing in the 100 & 220 yard sprints and represented South Africa in pole vaulting). He completed twelve comrade's marathons (a 56 mile endurance race) and an Iron Man Triathlon. He was also an avid all round cricketer and noted as a spin bowler. During a game in Northern Rhodesia, Jack was successful in not only taking all ten wickets of the opposing team but claimed a hat-trick, a feat achieved by few. In his mid 30's, he became an avid golfer achieving a 7 handicap. Always seeking new adventures, Jack took up painting in his retirement years, thrilling us all with his ambition and artistic talents. Most precious to Jack and treasured more than any earthly accomplishment was his beloved family. Margaret ""the great love of his life"" from Comber, County Down, Northern Ireland and Jack married in April 1959 settling in South Africa. Jack was blessed with three beautiful daughters Karen (Sergio) Piva, Jacqui (Tony) Salameh, Amanda (Bo) Mahoney and six beloved grandchildren Shevonne (Brent), Rochelle, Segolene, Jack, Emma & Paige. It is difficult to adequately sum up Jack in words. He was a well-travelled and highly accomplished man but above all a family man, a loving and much loved husband, father and grandfather. He is loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him...to know him was to love him. The world has been a better place for his presence, and a lesser place for his absence. The stars in the sky shine a little more brightly and heaven has gained a new angel. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:00am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of South Holly Street) in Centennial, Colorado 80122.
