George Edwin Peterson

George Edwin Peterson of Deckers and Littleton, Colorado passed away January 9, 2015. George was born January 16, 1941 in Alliance, NE and was the beloved husband of Sandy; father to Nancy Freeman, Julie Chelin, Cindy Johnson and Jeanie Peterson; grandfather to Bella, Elliot Jane, Roman and Maya. Predeceased by brother Frank, and survived by sisters Tina, Margaret, and Mary Ellen. Also survived by his four son-in-laws and his many nephews and nieces. George graduated from DU with a degree in Accounting and Finance: however, he never forgot his true passion; flying planes and that is where he spent the majority of his career. He retired as a Captain from United Airlines after 31 years and immediately filled his time fly fishing, perfecting his woodworking skills by making furniture, and other items for family, friends, church and the Fire Department. He served on his local water board where he could utilize his John Deere Tractor, and served as the treasurer for 7 years at the North Fork Fire Department. George and wife of 15 years Sandy, enjoyed their road trips which included driving back and forth to Minnesota visiting her family, spending time with family, grand-children, friends and frequenting happy hour at their local restaurants. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00am at Horan & McConaty, 5303 East County Line Road (West of Holly Street), Centennial, CO 80122. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the North Fork Fire Department, P.O. Box 183, Buffalo Creek, CO 80425 or for cancer research in memory of George Peterson to National Jewish Hospital, 1400 Jackson St, Denver, CO 80206.
