Beloved husband, father and grandfather, George William Sharpe III, passed away on September 5, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with Lymphoma. He was born on March 22, 1944, to George William Sharpe II and Mary Gay Moores in Columbia, South Carolina. After his parents' passing early in his life, he was adopted by his grandmother and raised collectively by his large and loving family in both South Carolina and Louisiana.
George attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated in 1965 with a Master's Degree in Marketing. He moved to Denver in 1969 to begin a career with United Banks of Colorado providing marketing research to Colorado ski resorts. He has called Denver home ever since, aside from four months spent in Atlanta where he met the love of his life, Nancy Norris. The two married in 1975 and have lived in south Denver ever since.
George's career in marketing research spanned five decades. After his time with United Banks of Colorado, he started his own research business, the Denver Consulting Group, which eventually merged into McGladrey & Pullen LLP (now RSM US). Eventually, George landed in the window coverings business as an executive focused on new product development and spent many years at Hunter Douglas Window Coverings and, finally, ending his career with Norman Window Coverings.
George was an avid Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and LSU Tigers fan. Mostly, though, George was a simple, kind, caring, and generous family man who always had time for those close to him. George is survived by his beautiful wife; four loving children; six grandchildren whom he adored; and many extended family members and friends who all loved him profoundly. He absolutely made his way into the hearts of all who knew him and cared for him. He will be missed immensely. A private celebration of his life will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made on George's behalf to support.lymphoma.org/goto/GeorgeSharpe.
