Georgiana M. Boyles

May 21, 1909 — January 11, 2005

Georgiana M. Boyles Georgiana M. Boyles 95, passed away January 11, 2005 in Aurora, Colorado. She was born May 21, 1909 near Bridgeport, Oklahoma to John W. and Minnie C. Ruhl. Georgiana graduated from Hinton High School and Oklahoma City University receiving Teacher's Certificates for both elementary and high school. She met Paul E. Boyles while teaching in a neighboring town and they were married on September 8, 1929. Georgiana taught in Oklahoma before she was married. But schools wouldn't hire married women. During the war years teachers became scarce and in demand. Georgiana was pressed into helping a small town school finish the year when 2 men teachers and the superintendent went into the service of our country. It was a real challenge to arrange a curriculum so that the seniors could graduate and the other students receive their credits. The school had become an all-girls school without a superintendent. Georgiana soon realized that if the school had any head leadership she would have to step into that role because no other teacher would take over. She was offered the Superintendence of the school for the next year. In 1954 she and Paul moved to Brush, Colorado where she taught 6th grade for 20 years and Paul taught in neighboring towns. Paul retired in 1972 and Georgiana in 1974. Georgiana and Paul were initiated into Eastern Star in the Bridgeport Chapter #384 in 1929 and Paul belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Later they both affiliated with Brush Chapter #93 where Georgiana was Worthy Matron, served as Secretary for 10 years and filled the offices of all Star points and several other offices. She was a 75 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Georgiana's children remember their mother as a kind and unselfish person, always ready to lend a helping hand. As a youngster in her early nineties, she would visit the Eastern Star assisted living unit to give assistance to some of the 'old folks' and make sure the plants were watered regularly. Georgiana was always active in her church and community. She joined the Rankin Church in 1960 and became chairman of the Bereavement Committee. She was a trustee in the Presbyterian Church in Brush, and was ordained an elder in 1965, resigning in 1984 to attend to her husband's health needs. She was vice-president of Women's Fellowship for about 20 years. Georgiana loved her family and is survived by her daughter, Mary (Fred) Peach, of Monroe NE; son, John (Ceil) Boyles, of Aurora; by her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom she adored, Tawnya (Steve) Silloway, of Colorado Springs; Eric Vogt, of Gunnison; and Stacy (Wes) Severin, of Aurora; and Kylie and Brody Severin. She is also survived by her sister, Elloween Bennett, whom she cherished throughout her life, as well as numerous other loving family members and friends. Georgiana had unshakeable morals and an enviable standard of living. She always put others' needs above her own. Her children were taught to 'always do your best, no matter what you're doing.' Her words were wise, and she lived them admirably. The Lord blessed Georgiana's family by allowing them 95 wonderful years with this lovely lady. But He has called her back home to be with Him in Heaven. Funeral services will be at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3201 S. Parker Road, Aurora, on Saturday, January 15th, at 10:00 am, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 am. Additional services will be held in Bridgeport, Oklahoma (UMC), on Thursday at 10 am, with burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Hydro OK. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Fund, c/o Bob Karlin, Route 1 Box 25, Hydro OK 73048.
