Geraldine Stark Alvarez

December 12, 1936 — August 19, 2023

Parker

Our beloved, Geraldine Stark Alvarez, passed away from natural causes August 19, 2023 at her home in Parker, Colorado. She was 86 years old.

Gerrie was born in Gary, Indiana on December 12, 1936, to Mae and Edward Stark. She spent her childhood in Gary with her four siblings: Eleanor, Edward Jr., Joseph and Maryellen. She graduated from Lew Wallace High School (1954) where she excelled in language arts, which fostered her love for reading and teaching.

Gerrie met her true love David when they were in high school. They separated while David served in the Army. During this time, Gerrie attended Miami University (Ohio) and was accepted as a flight attendant with TWA. After David completed his military commitment, they reunited, got married (1957) and moved to Valparaiso, Indiana where they graduated from Valparaiso University.

They welcomed son, Timothy Eric (1962) after completing her degree in Education and becoming an elementary school teacher. While visiting her sister Eleanor in Denver, she fell in love with Colorado. They moved their family of 3 to Denver with baby Karen on the way. Karen Elizabeth (1964) was born and their family was complete.

Gerrie and Dave remained in Colorado for the rest of her life (married 65+ years). She continued her teaching profession (retired with the Denver Public Schools) and earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Colorado.

Gerrie loved her family, including 4 grandchildren; Scott, Jeff, Eric and Greg plus numerous nieces, nephews & extended family. She enjoyed tennis, golf, skiing, travel, reading and playing bridge. She had a very special group of girlfriends with whom she shared in these activities.

Though her health suffered during her later years, she tried her best to look on the bright side and persevere. Those that loved her sent wonderful notes with fun memories; her beautiful green eyes would sparkle with joy. This was priceless.

Gerrie is preceded in death by her father, Edward; mother, Mae and brother, Joseph. She will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National cemetery in Denver, CO.

Gerrie will be sorely missed by all that knew her beauty inside and out. She will never be forgotten.
