Geraldine Clare Chavez

CHAVEZ, GERALDINE C. 1923-2009 Gerry passed away at her home December 27, 2009 after a brief illness. She is survived by her children, John (Donald Contillo), Consuelo, and Rose Ann (Jim Haugen), grandson, Maurice Howerter (Valerie), great-grandchildren, Marcus Howerter and Kianna Howerter (deceased) and by Sr. Lorraine Stenger, OSF and John (Joanne) Stenger, her brother and sister. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by her beloved husband, Demetrio A. Chavez. A graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota, Gerry was for many years involved in both pediatric nursing and the care of the elderly. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was also active in many civic organizations including the League of Women Voters and the Great Books Program. Throughout her life she remained committed to a just society for everyone. Funeral Mass, Wednesday 5 PM Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4900 Montview Blvd. Interment, Thursday 11:15 AM, Ft. Logan Area ""C"". The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Park Hill Food Bank or to Catholic Relief Services.
