Gerard L. GARLAND M.D. Born September 14, 1934 in Denver, passed away June 23, 2010 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Son of Frank and Helen Garland. Survived by Martha his beloved wife and dancing partner of 52 years; loving father of Pat (Jenny) Garland, Anna (Mark) Mills, Della (Matt) Wool, Maureen (Phil) Swann, Michael (Darcy) Garland; and fun loving ""Papa"" to Jeff & Amy Garland; Sean, Tim & Elena Kalahar; Sophie & Michael Wool, Franklin & Nicholas Swann; and Ryan & Natalie Garland; brothers Mike (Anita) Garland and Jim Garland; Sisters-in-Law Rose (John) Holland and Carlotta dec. (Joe) Apodaca; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dr. Garland practiced Family Medicine in Denver for over 40 years and was privileged to share in the lives of his many patients including those he served at the Free Clinic at Samaritan House. After he retired he joined and later led the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Most Precious Blood Parrish in Denver. His generous heart will be missed but never forgotten. He lived life to the fullest. His life will be celebrated with a rosary at the Chapel at Horan and McConaty located at 1091 S. Colorado Boulevard (at Mississippi Avenue), Denver, CO at 7:00 PM on Tuesday June 29, 2010. There will be a funeral mass at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 2250 S. Harrison St, Denver, CO at 10:00 AM on Wednesday June 30, 2010 followed by a reception in the Parish Center. He was a veteran of the Korean War and will be buried with honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery Staging Area C at 1:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Conference of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
