Geraldine (Gerri) Sigman September 4, 1942 — December 20, 2024
Gerri was born on September 4, 1942 at Taylor Hospital, in Taylor, PA. Before marrying Allen Sigman, she lived with her parents, Francis and Anna Szymanski, and her sisters, Barbara and Michelle, in their family home in Duryea, PA. She passed away peacefully in Littleton, CO on December 20, 2024.
She is survived by her husband Allen, sister Michelle, children Cheryl (Kent) and Darryl (Lynn), grandchildren Luke, Alena (Charlie), Abigail, Aaron, and Alex and great-grandson Jacob.
Gerri graduated from Duryea High School in Pennsylvania in 1960. She married Al in 1962 and they were together for nearly 62 years. Two days after getting married, they left together for Lubbock, Texas, where Al was a pilot training student at Reese Air Force Base. Their permanent assignment was at Ellsworth Air Force Base outside of Rapid City where they lived from 1964-1969. Both of their children were born on base in the Ellsworth Hospital.
When Al’s military commitment ended, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where Gerri raised her children, developed life-long friendships, played competitive tennis and worked on and off as an office manager. Later in life, they gave retired life a try in Vero Beach, Florida and Tucson, Arizona, before, at Gerri’s urging, they returned to Colorado to be near family.
As lifelong Catholics, Gerri and Allen were members of St. Thomas More Church in Centennial where they attended weekly mass until Covid-19 arrived and physical ailments suggested they not attend any large gatherings. They continued weekly mass but viewed on television.
Gerri enjoyed cooking meals and shopping for gifts for her family. She often had her birthday or Christmas shopping completed months before the date. Gerri also loved to laugh, and her household was one filled with much joy and laughter. More than anything, Gerri had a never-ending commitment to her family. Anyone who met her knew this to be true as it was usually the first topic of conversation. Just listening to her speak of her family or watching her face light up when she saw new pictures of her great-grandson left no doubt to how much she valued and loved each of us. She will be greatly missed.
