Gertrude (Gertie) Cullwell (nee Van Voorhis) of Highlands Ranch, CO died peacefully on the morning of November 7, 2015 at the age of 77. Mrs. Cullwell is survived by two sons and their families: Richard, his wife Tamra, and their daughters Kathryn and Nicole of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Robert and his wife Heather of Austin, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Cullwell, and longtime love, John Duncan. Mrs. Cullwell was born in Floral Park, NY, one of four children of Peter and Gertrude (Jackson) Van Voorhis. In 1958, she married Richard Cullwell at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Ridgewood, NY. They resided in Maspeth, NY; Deer Park, NY; and Orange Park, FL with their two sons. Mrs. Cullwell moved to Highlands Ranch, CO in 2013. In Orange Park, Mrs. Cullwell was a long time member of the choir at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, President of the Orange Park Women's Club and an active member of the Red Hatters Society. After moving to Highlands Ranch, she joined the choir at St. Mark's Catholic Church and was an active member of the Red Hatters Society. A memorial service will be held at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home in Centennial, CO on Tuesday, November 10th from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, FL on Saturday, November 21st.
