Gilbert Matamoros Jr.

73, of Denver Colorado, passed away on August 15, 2013. In Gilbert's memory, a visitation will be held at 4 O' Clock in the afternoon to 7 O' Clock in the evening on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3201 South Parker Road, Aurora Colorado. A Graveside Service will be held at 10 O' Clock in the morning on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Gilbert Matamoros Jr. was born on November 18, 1939 to Gilbert Matamoros Sr. and Flavia (Cervantes) Matamoros. Gilbert Jr. served 20 years in the Army, in the Big Red One, including two tours in Vietnam. He then moved to Denver and worked at US West. After retirement from US West, he dedicated his life to teaching math for Aurora Public Schools. Gil touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed. Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife Mary; his mother, Flavia; five wonderful children, Matthew, Erik, Samantha, Sheila, Jennifer; as well as an immensely loving family, and many caring friends. Gilbert is preceded in passing by his father Gilbert Matamoros, Sr. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Gilbert's memory.
