Gilbert J. Valdez

Gilbert J. Valdez passed away on July 11, 2014 at the age of 77. Mr. Valdez was born in Antonito, Colorado on December 15, 1936 to the late Juan Valdez and the late Amalia Martinez. Gilbert was married to Maria Lillian Sandoval on December 30, 1959 and worked in the aerospace industry at Martin Marietta as a Precision Assembly and Test Foreman. He is survived by his wife Maria Lillian Valdez; children Shirley Ann (Edward) Brozena, Melvin Wayne Valdez, Diana Lynne Vander Velde, Valerie Valdez, Domonic Rodney Valdez; grandchildren, Alisa Ann (Frank) Da Costa, Christina Marie (Michael) Follett, Nicolette Marie Vander Velde, Jacquelyn Marie (Bob) Vander Velde, Scott Edward (Erin) Brozena, Jennifer Leigh Brozena, Nicholas Jon Wedeman, and Brittany Maria Wedeman; great-grandchildren, Adolphina Maria Vander Velde-Reimensnider, Tycen Edmund Vander Velde-Heit, Hunter Valdez Follett, Christopher James Goble, and Lorelai Evelyn Follett; sister Ida (Roy) Sifter and brother James (Elsie) Valdez. There will be a visitation from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado, followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 6853 South Prince Street, Littleton, Colorado. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Boulevard, Littleton, Colorado. A reception will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM after the graveside service by returning to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
