Gladys Irene Engelstad

Gladys Engelstad, of Aurora, passed away on June 10, 2018. She was 86 years old. She was the only child of Martin and Maudeen Donovan of Maysville, Missouri. Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Lyall D. Engelstad. She is survived by her 3 children; Lora (David) Eslick, Cher (Jim) Dobbe, Jeffrey (Julia) Engelstad, and her 7 grandchildren; Alexis Reta, Kiersten (Erin) Snavely, Natasha Reta, Jeffrey (May) Engelstad, Erik Engelstad, Samantha Engelstad and Noah Engelstad and 3 great-grandchildren; Geneva Reta, Harrison Snavely, and Theodore Engelstad. Gladys was raised on a farm near Maysville, MO. She loved to read and was an excellent student. She married Lyall Engelstad of Astoria, South Dakota in 1956. Soon after, they moved to Aurora, CO and made it their home. Gladys took pride in her beautiful home and enjoyed entertaining. She sometimes had a large vegetable garden. After her children were grown she took up golf and spent many days playing at Valley Country Club. In retirement, Gladys and Lyall had more time for trips to a variety of locations. They especially liked going to Arizona for several weeks in late winter to visit family and friends. Gladys was active at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and volunteered at the local elementary school. She was dearly loved by family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Parker Adventist Hospital Cardiac Unit, and Porter Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Porter Hospice, 2525 South Downing Street, Denver CO 80210 A memorial service will be held in her honor on July 7, 2018 at 2:30 pm in the Horan and McConaty chapel on 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014.
