Glee Christine Madden Jones

Glee Christine Madden Jones was born on January 13, 1920 in Norton, KS. Her father was a farmer and Methodist Minister. The family struggled through the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. She moved to Denver as a young woman to find more opportunities than she found on the farm. Glee was proceeded in death by her husband George L. Jones, parents Charles Benson Madden and Ethel May Howell Madden. sisters E. Louise Henderson Chambliss and Dorothy Lundgren. She is survived by two nephews - David Lundgren of Derby, Kansas, Dennis Henderson of Harlingen, Texas and three nieces - Christina Moore of Madill, OK, Ramona Hawk of Bloomington, MN, Lesley Ostrom of Plainville, KS. Glee worked as a tire builder at Gates Rubber Company during WWII and owned boarding houses in the Captiol Hill Area for over 70 years. Glee was very kind hearted. She helped many people who were down on their luck and made many friends in that close knit community. She also taught dancing at Arthur Murray. Glee loved animals, especially cats. She was very business savvy and was willing to try new ideas. With different levels of success she dabbled in mushroom growing, earth worm farming, automobile salvage yards, running apartment buildings and gold mining. Her life story reflects the lives of many in her generation. She rode to school on horseback and lived to see men in the space station. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff in the memory care area at Emeritus at Roslyn for the wonderful care that she received the past few years of her life. A Graveside Service will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, June 20 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""A"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, CO.
