Gordon Ryan Garl

October 6, 1976 — January 24, 2006

Gordon Ryan Garl, 29, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away January 24, 2006. Gordon was diagnosed with Burkett's Lymphoma on Nov 12, 2004. He spent the majority of his days in the hospital until May, getting Chemo treatments and recovering. He went into remission until Sep 2005, when the cancer came back. He checked into the hospital for his bone marrow transplant on Dec 16, 2005. Things didn't go as planned and the bone marrow didn't take. But Gordon never gave up faith. On Jan 24 2006, Gordon was called back home to his Heavenly Father. Gordon was born in Puyallup, Washington on October 6, 1976 to Rhonda Elayne and Gordon William Garl. He was raised in Graham Washington and went to Bethel Jr High and Bethel High School. He was involved in football, Band and Video Production in High School. Gordon moved to Las Vegas after high school to pursue his Video Production career. He worked at channel 8, and worked in the television industry as a free lancer. He loved it and he did many of the boxing tournaments, golf shows, etc. He also worked at the New Orleans Hotel in the arena taping the Hockey team. Gordon was attending college in Las Vegas; He was a couple of credits away from his associate. He promised his Grandma that he would graduate and Gordon never broke a promise. Gordon's best friend Ryan Smith (Biff) baptized Gordon a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in January 1999. He was taught by Barrett Moulton and Joshua Dunn. Gordon knew the Church was true from day one. He loved his Heavenly Father, and his Savior. He constantly wanted to learn and wanted to share the Gospel with everyone. He loved to go out with the missionaries and teach. That is how Gordon met his wife in November of 2000. He always wanted to help the Missionaries and met Elder Anthony Winters who thought he should write to his sister Jamie. They met and shortly thereafter they were married on July 21 2001 in the Seattle LDS Temple. Gordon loved his family more than anything. His children meant the world to him. He wanted 10 kids growing up. Besides his family, Gordon had another true love and that was Christmas Trees. When he retired he wanted to have his own Christmas Tree Farm. He even drew out the plans for the whole thing. He always said that he would never have a fake tree in his house. Gordon worked for Whole Foods in the Bakery Department. He loved working there. They have been so good to him during this time. He is survived by his loving wife, Jamie Lynn Garl and their two children, Hayleigh Rose and Gordon Anthony Garl, of Aurora, CO; parents, Gordon William Garl and Rhonda Elayne Peck, of Graham, Washington; sister, April Rose LaVergne, of Spanaway, Washington; step-mother Laurie Garl and step-brothers, David Eric and Matthew James Shaw, of Olympia Washington; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol B. and Anthony "Tony" Jay Winters, of Aurora; grandmother, Ramona McBee, and great-grandfather, Ralph Weaver. Gordon was a Husband, Father, Son, Brother and best friend. He was such a good man. He cared more about everybody else then himself. As a loving husband and dad, he made sure that his wife Jamie was taken care of at all times, He worked hard so she could raise their 2 beautiful children. He loved Hayleigh and little Gordon with all his heart. We wished he could see them grow but he will definitely be watching them from above. A Funeral service for Gordon will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 950 Laredo, in Aurora. A visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday just prior to the service, from 10:00-10:45am. Burial will follow at Saint Simeon Cemetery, in Aurora.
