Gordon Robert Gibson

October 18, 1954 — March 16, 2024

Gordon (Gordy) Robert Gibson, age 69, died in his home in Broomfield, Colorado on March 16, 2024. His life ended as he spent it, close to people he loves and who love him. While he was an accomplished student (North St. Paul High School, B.S. in History from Bethel College, M.A. in Education at the University of Dayton) and an even more accomplished teacher (over 40 years in the classroom teaching history and E.S.L.), he is most remembered for his loving presence.

An avid fisherman, catching a huge muskie could put a huge smile on his face. Yet, what brought him true joy was being present and sharing love with the brokenhearted and the underdog. He was active in Reentry Services in Ohio and CrossPurpose Ministries in Colorado. Over his life, Gordy reached thousands of students and adults with his gentle, kind spirit. He made it his life's purpose to love others the way Jesus loves him.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, their son Jon (married to Heather), their son Robert (married to Kelly), their daughter Rebekah Twinem (married to Tim), and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Robert F. Gibson (married to Karen), his sister Connie Adelsman (married to Tom), and his brother Dave (married to Wendy). He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores (Johnson) Gibson.

The memorial service will take place at Revive Church in Arvada, Colorado on Tuesday, April 2 at 5:30 pm. The burial service will be private for the immediate family earlier that morning. Following the memorial, a reception will be hosted for all at Revive Church. Gordy and Bonnie request that you send gifts to Cross Purpose at www.crosspurpose.org/give in lieu of flowers.
