Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Gordon Lee Heele passed away June 23, 2019, at University Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (neé Swinney); daughters Anne Julia, Alice Elizabeth, Amanda Lee [Chad Williams]; and his grandson, Jack Gordon.
Gordon was born December 7, 1936, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur Heele and Annabelle Dodt. He served in the United States Army in the tank division, and after his discharge, attended Miami University, earning an M.S. in Geology. He worked as a petroleum geologist for Mobile and Davis Oil in Denver before becoming a founding member of 410 Exploration. He then went on to establish his own exploration company, G.H. Exploration.
Gordon was an avid angler and outdoorsman, a golfer and gardener, and a voracious reader. He and his wife split their time between their homes in Aurora, Colorado, and Rio Verde, Arizona.
Memorial services will be held at Horan & McConaty in Aurora on Saturday June 29 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Verde Cares via their website at https://www.verdecares.org/.
