Gordon Waring

Robert Gordon Waring, 82, of Smoot, Wyoming, passed away August 8, 2011, in Denver, Colorado. He was born December 21, 1928, in Los Angeles, California to Robert W. and Leila Ann Ellis Waring. Gordon graduated from Brigham Young University with a masters degree in geology in 1952 and lived and worked as a petroleum geologist in the Denver area from 1957 to 1993. Gordon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities; as a member of a Bishopric, as a Bishop, and a High Councilman in the Denver and Lakewood areas. Gordon married Louise Mabel Parker Waring December 25, 1955, and while living in Denver, they raised five children, Joan, Karin, Scott, Robert and Alan. Louise passed away October 17, 1989. Gordon married Valier Roos Waring on October 5, 1991. He is survived by his wife, Valier Waring of Smoot, Wyoming; children, Joan Waring Smith; Karin Waring Crawford; Scott Parker Waring; Robert Parker Waring; Alan Parker Waring; grandchildren, Keith, Kevin, Karin and Kendall Smith; Michael Andrew and Carson Crawford; Brodie and Broc Waring; Joey, Rilee and Carlee Waring; and two great-grandchildren, Kerrigan Smith and Miles Boettcher, all residing in the Denver metro and surrounding area. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011, 11:00am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6465 W. Jewell Ave., Lakewood, Colorado 80232. A viewing will be held at the Church from 9:00am-10:40am. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Gordon's name to The Denver Hospice, 501 So.
