Grace Louise Taylor

April 2, 1929 – August 8th 2018

Grace Louise Taylor passed away on August 8th 2018 at the age of 89. She was the loving wife of James Taylor who predeceased her in 2015 at the age of 90. She had eloped with him at the age of 16 and they had a marriage just shy of 69 years. They were retired for over thirty of those years, and traveled extensively in their RV, at one point doing it exclusively.

She leaves behind four daughters, Sharon (Ernie) Meier of Parker Colorado, Barbara (Ron)Carleton of Pine, Peggy (Bob)Taylor Barelman of Gillette WY and Kathy (Graham) Taylor-Letch of San Pedro, CA.

Before retiring, she successfully ran a house, worked at several jobs including bookkeeping, wool buying and ran a packing shed which sold apples in Hotchkiss CO, to name a few. She was involved in activities such as bridge club, Eastern star, choir, any exercise class, bingo, pool, golf and others. She had a beautiful voice and sang at almost every wedding and funeral in Hotchkiss in addition to the church choir.

After Jim passed, she moved to independent living at Quincy place in 2015 and joyfully took part in most of the activities there as well. She will be remembered for her skill at cards and her amazing way of beating you just as she had announced she had nothing.

She was a good friend to many, and a warm loving mother to her daughters, her 13 grandchildren, 27 great grand children, and six great great grandchildren. She always remembered them at holidays, and birthdays. Their language skills will be forever changed because of her penchant for rhyming everything. They all received plenty of “hugger buggers”. She crocheted with a passion, knitted and did every other craft that came along. All shared in the bounty at Christmas.

She was kind and loving and fully represented her name “Grace”. She will be sorely missed.

Services will be held at 7200 East Quincy Avenue, Denver, Colorado at 2:00 p.m. Cremated remains of Jim and Grace will be interred together at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
