Gregory Joseph Beattie first blessed this world with his existence when he was born in Arcadia, California on September 11, 1966. Oxygen deprivation at birth denied him the opportunity to develop his full intellectual potential. A challenge for Greg and his family as his life progressed? Of course. A blessing for family and all who came to know Greg to share and be part of his joyful, pure and innocent life? Without a doubt. Greg spent 47 years enriching the lives of all those who came in contact with him. Now that he is with a loving God and has been made whole we are certain he realizes what he contributed to all of us who knew and loved him while he was on earth. Greg split his time between his group home with his wonderful caretaker, Sybil, and his family home with his loving mother, Terri, and her husband, Jim. Weekends were his time to be with immediate family and get the one on one time he so thoroughly enjoyed. Spending time with his brothers and nieces and nephew, several restaurant outings, listening to his favorite musical CDs, taking it easy in his bedroom, laughing about clowns, enjoying balloons being blown up for him, drinking beer (root beer) and watching sunsets on the patioâ¦..this was Greg`s life and what made him happy. This happiness was boundless and infectious. Greg was accepting of anybody who wanted to be his friend. His exuberance and hearty handshake when meeting somebody for the first time was a sight to behold. He had none of the human frailties that afflict most of us. He never uttered a cross word, hurt another person's feelings, or engaged in a mean or spiteful act. He was unfailingly kind and appreciative of anything that anybody did for him. He was the classic gentlemanâ¦â¦he just did not know it. Greg's life was a gift to all of us and God knew what the plan was when Greg entered into this world. There is no doubt he is standing next to St. Peter greeting heaven's newcomers with the same unbridled enthusiasm and warmth he displayed while on earth. God bless you zoomer man.
