Gregory Earl Green was born in Frogmore, Louisiana on June 23, 1956, to the late Eliza and Jack Green. Frogmore is a historic, privately owned, cotton plantation near Ferriday, Concordia Parish, Louisiana. Gregory was the oldest of six children. He is survived by his sisters, Jacqueline, Sandra, Suzanne, Cynthia, and his brother, Cary. He was raised in Pontiac, Michigan from ages five to thirteen, where he went to elementary and portions of middle school. There he learned to play hockey. He returned to Ferriday, Louisiana and attended Ferriday High School, where he was a star athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball. Gregory also loved all types of music, particularly Jazz. He graduated from Ferriday High in 1975.
Gregory went home to be with the Lord, after a short battle with cancer, on December 30, 2019, in Aurora, CO. As he entered the presence of the Lord, Gregory was surrounded by loved ones.
Gregory lived in Aurora with his wife of 40 years, Diana. They were married on August 11, 1979. They celebrated their 40th anniversary this past August, 2019. Together they have three sons, Jason, Nicholas, and Jonathan. Gregory and Diana lovingly welcomed their daughters-in-law, Rebecca, Kirsten, and Elyssa, into their family. Gregory and Diana have three grandchildren, Jada, Cameron, Ellington, and a fourth grandchild due this year in February. Gregory was a devoted husband, loving father, dependable brother, loyal friend, and a proud Papa.
Gregory enjoyed working with his hands. He also took pride in his vehicles and kept them impeccable. You would never see him with a dirty vehicle. Gregory believed that hard work paid off. He was employed as a technician, in maintenance, janitorial services, as a custom window installer, and most recently as an operations manager.
Gregory became a member of Colorado Christian Fellowship in 2019. Prior to joining CCF, he and Diana were members of Heritage Christian Center (now the Potter's House), where they volunteered in the food bank for several years.
Gregory believed if a person was 15 minutes early, he or she was on time; and if a person was exactly on time, he or she was late. He drilled into his sons to always âBe a leader, not a follower,â and âBe your own man.â He was tough, strong willed, and a man of God. Gregory loved God, loved his family, and adored his grandchildren. He thought his life was rich, based on the loved ones he had around him, and his ability to help others.
A memorial service will be held in Gregoryâs honor on Thursday January 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Colorado Christian Fellowship, 10630 E. Iliff Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014.
