Gregory Wayne Ohman passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025. He was 63 years old.
He is missed by his mother, Donna, his brothers, Brent, Mike, and Chris, his sister-in-law, Kitty, and his brother-in-law, Nathan. He has a nephew and three nieces: Dan (and his wife Melissa), Becky (and her husband Brady), Taylor, and Hannah, and four great nephews and nieces: Liam, Ava, Nora, and Lucas. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Ohman, and his partner, Patrick Morris.
Greg was a Senior Specialist-Quality Control with the Denver Financial Group, later Empower, for 16 years. Previously, he was with First Trust, later Fiserv Trust, for 20 years.
He served in the United States Navy for 8 years, retiring as a DK2 Distributing Clerk Petty Officer 2nd Class in 1987.
Like many young men, Greg joined the Navy looking to find his own way in the world. His travels took him to Guam, Iceland, Spain, Chicago, and New Orleans by way of Gulfport, Mississippi, but he was also a homebody, and his family was grateful when he returned home to them in Colorado.
Like his father, Greg was thoughtful and gentle. He was a watchful and diligent caretaker, especially to his partner, Pat, and to his parents, Cliff and Donna. He was a generous and loyal son, brother, partner, and friend. He was sometimes frugal when it came to meeting his own needs, but if family or friends were in need he was there for us – often before we thought or knew to ask.
Greg was serious, focused and disciplined. He was true to the course he chose. If he stumbled, if he fell, he would pick himself up and continue. Even in the last months, days, and hours of his life he was planning – looking out for his family, his friends, and his colleagues.
But Greg was also playful – even silly – and his sense of humor could be wicked, but never mean or cruel. He traveled, he hiked, he loved good food, but his pastime and his hobby were us – The simple pleasure that he took in spending time with the people he loved. And we are honored.
Greg’s journey of faith did not always take a straight path, but in the end, his journey of faith brought him home, our beloved son, brother and friend.
