In Loving Memory of Greg Shaw Gregory Dean Shaw 1956-2010. Greg Shaw 53, of Thornton, Colorado passed away and returned to the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, April 4th at St. Anthony's Hospital in the CICU unit. Greg was born August 10, 1956 in Canton, Illinois to Gerald D. and Addie M. Shaw; he is the second of 4 children. The Shaw family moved to Colorado in 1964 and Greg attended school in Thornton, Colorado and graduated from Highland High School in 1974. Greg loved learning; he graduated from CU with a Bachelor of Arts in 1981 and shortly thereafter he used his knowledge and joined the Peace Corps where he taught English in Africa. Greg had a great love for music. He attended the Violin Making School of America run by Peter Paul Prier in Salt Lake City, Utah. There he learned to make and play the violin. In 1985, Greg met his sweetheart Joani Burton while working at the Genealogical Library in Salt Lake City; they married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on November 8th, 1986, and were married for 23 wonderful years. Greg and Joani moved to Colorado in 1990. He worked in the library at the NOAA in Boulder, Colorado. Greg loved to go camping with his family spending many happy hours traveling and camping in the deserts and mountains of Colorado and Utah and other places. Greg had a heart and smile that warmed all those who knew him. He loved and was loved by a large family and many friends. Our hearts are broken; his loss is deeply felt. Greg is survived by his Wife Joani Shaw, Parents Jerry & Addie Shaw and his Siblings Kathy Burg, Lori (Kirk) Race, Shelley (Jon) Cardenas. Many thanks to the family, friends and Ward members who have and are helping us through this difficult time. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 9th at 12PM Noon at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton.
