Gregory Allen Walda born March 16, 1947 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Bob and Jean Walda passed away April 17th 2015 from a bacterial infection while undergoing Chemo treatment in Denver, CO. He married his High School sweet heart Linda on March 14, 1970 and together they had two children Lindsay and Ryan. Greg served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam War on the USS Diachenko. After 2 years active and 2 years reserve Greg moved to Denver for a job with Champion Motor Graders. After over 10 years as a regional sales manager with Champion, Greg started his own company Rylind Manufacturing, which builds construction attachments for the heavy equipment industry. Greg retired from the business in 2013 handing over operations to his son Ryan. Greg had a passion for his family, friends, boating, antique cars, and old school model train sets. During his younger years in Angola, IN Greg loved power boat racing, sailboat racing, and motorcycle riding. After a few boat crashes Linda tried to make him give up the dangerous hobbies but compromised and was able to make him give up racing and just stick with motorcycles. Greg loved to travel with his family, going camping in the Rockies, vacationing in Mexico, the Caribbean, and road trips back to Indiana and Florida to see family. During his short 68 years Greg tried to live a full and adventurous life. He loved being on the water either vacationing back in Indiana on Lake James or going down to Florida with his old High School buddies to watch the off shore boat races. The day he became a grandpa was one of the most exciting days of his life and he enjoyed every moment with Elam and wanted to teach his grandson all he could. The day he found out he was going to be a Grandpa he started to purchase and put together a model train set that he could give his grandson when he got older. Greg will be loved and missed every day. He is survived by his sisters Leslie (Carr) and Kelli (Kensill), loving wife Linda (Dienell), daughter Lindsay, son Ryan, Daughter in-law Shawna (Hatfield), and grandson Elam. As well as many nieces and nephews. Please share your memories of Gregory and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook below.
