Gretchen H Capron, age 58, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed October 16, 2013 at home. Gretchen was born April 19th, 1955 in Cuba City, Wisconsin. She moved from Cuba City to Oregon, Wisconsin in 1967 and graduated from Oregon High School in 1973. She worked full time waitressing to put herself through college and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1978, majoring in Home Economics. After graduation she managed corporate cafeterias at various locations in the Midwest. Gretchen met her husband, Nick, in Saint Peter's Square, Rome in July 1984 while on vacation in Italy with her mother. They married in a small chapel next to the ocean in Santa Cruz, California in December, 1984. Three years later her only child, Nicholas, was born at the Naval hospital in Naples, Italy. While living in Italy she managed the Naval Support Activity Enlisted Club restaurant for three years. After moving from Italy to Richland, Washington, Gretchen enjoyed participating in Nicholas' sports and school activities and volunteering for many of the associated fund raising events. Gretchen owned a Once Upon A Child franchise in Richland, Washington for 10 years, retaining many of her long term employees as close friends. More recently, she volunteered at the humane society and various other charities. Gretchen will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, and as a kind and loyal friend. Gretchen is survived by her husband Nick and son Nicholas, and siblings Chris Hauser (Karen) of Sammamish, Washington, Paul Hauser (Sharon) of Springfield, VA, and Caroline McGrath of Marietta, GA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents John and Carolyn Hauser and nephews Tom Hauser and Christopher McGrath. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2:00 PM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Rd., (one block west of Holly) Centennial.
