Gretchen Elizabeth Nierescher, 77, of Arvada passed away on October 17, 2020. Born on June 14, 1943 in Flint, Michigan she was the daughter of James A. and Betty J. (Bigelow) Nierescher. Gretchen married Mark Gentry on July 24, 1982 and together shared 38 years of marriage.
Gretchen had a long career in nursing, starting as a registered nurse in labor & delivery after graduation from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan. She later completed the nurse practitioner program through the University of Colorado in 1981. Specializing in obstetrics and gynecology for the rest of her career, she eventually retired from Westside Women’s Care, Arvada, Colorado in June of 2009.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, fitness walking, dining out, Broncos football, and babysitting her grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her wit and enduring sense of humor, infectious laughter, and love of family and friends. She was sometimes referred to by her sister-in-law Meg as the “baby whisperer” because the little ones were always comforted in her arms. Dogs always detected her kind spirit and were naturally drawn to her.
In addition to her husband, Mark, she is survived by her daughter, Carrie Neumiller and her husband Darren, son Lance Shore and his wife Katie, daughter Heather Shore, stepson Mark Gentry, Jr. and his wife Danielle, stepson Keith Gentry, granddaughters, Samantha Neumiller, Meagan Shore, Libbi Gentry, Reese Gentry, Hadley Gentry, grandsons, Ben Neumiller, Marqez Neumiller, Liam Shore, Hunter Gentry, Lorenzo Duran, Frankie Maez, Nolan Gentry, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Gretchen Neumiller, and brother James Nierescher and his wife Catherine.
