Grette E. Smith

Grette E. Smith, of Arvada, Colorado passed-away on December 7, 2010 in her home. Born in Colon, Nebraska in 1919, she was raised in Julesburg, Colorado by a mother who was a homemaker and a father who owned a grain elevator and bought and sold commodities. She met her husband, Grant B. Smith, who was an electrical engineer and World War II veteran in a down-town Denver boarding house. She was a homemaker and mother to five children. She was unparalleled as a mother and words simply cannot describe how much she is beloved. She had a great love of life and was an inspirational human being. Her life was a sincere demonstration of true dignity, grace and loving kindness. Her life example will live on ... Grette was preceded in death by Grant. Her remaining family includes daughters M'Lissa Smith of Littleton, CO, and Valerie and husband Bill Briggs of Golden, CO; sons Phil Smith of Dumont, CO; Jay and wife Jacque Smith of Westminster, CO; and Barry Smith of Englewood, CO; granddaughter Allison Foster and grandsons Jason Briggs of Littleton, CO and Chris Briggs of Prudhoe Bay, AK. Memorial services are private, but neighbors and friends are asked to take a moment and reflect on her smile and her contagious enthusiasm for the happiness in life.
