Griffin Mary Ann O'Donnell

90, died on August 24, 2011. Mary Ann was born in Denver in 1921, the daughter of Canton O'Donnell and Dorothy Bryant O'Donnell. She married Lynne Wilson Griffin, Jr. in 1943; he preceded her in death in 1999. Mary Ann is survived by five children, Lynne B. Griffin, Nancy (Bryce Kranzthor) Griffin, Dorothy (Dave) Myers, Carol Griffin and Jim (Holly) Griffin, a brother Canton (Ann) O'Donnell Jr., sister-in-law Jean O'Donnell, fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy O'Donnell O'Ryan and a brother, Bryant O'Donnell. Mary Ann's love and connection to Colorado and the community went back for generations, starting with her great-grandfather John Routt who was the first Governor of Colorado. She graduated from East High and attended Randolph Macon College. But nothing was more important to Mary Ann than her family and friends. Her life was filled with unselfish love and giving and she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her happiest times were when surrounded by children and family. Mary Ann genuinely made the world a better place through her life and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Services will be at Christ Episcopal Church, 2950 S. University Blvd., at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 1. Burial will be in Grand Lake, Colorado.
