Guy H. Smith

Guy H. Smith Jr., 89, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Guy Haskins Smith, Sr. and Ann Elizabeth Squires, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky on April 24, 1924. He died December 23, 2013 in Littleton, Colorado where he had retired in 2010. He was a long time member of First Methodist Church and was a member of the Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F&M. He was owner and operator of Smith Wholesale and worked in the wholesale business for over 60 years. He enjoyed dancing and country music. He united in marriage with the late Barbara Ann Cox in 1943. Guy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by two daughters and one son and their spouses; Barbara and Bobby DeSpain of Littleton, Colorado; Cindy and Allen Newcomb of Southwick, MA; and Guy and Lynn Smith of Lake Charles, LA; seven grandchildren and their spouse; Kathy and Bob Varto of Highlands Ranch, CO; Sarah and Michael Raye of Houston, TX; Virginia Smith of Fort Worth, TX; Audrey and Carlie Newcomb of Southwick, MA; Allen Campbell of Frostburg, MD; and Jeff and Vanessa DeSpain of Littleton, CO; four great grandsons, two great granddaughters and long-time life companion Wanda Reese. He is also preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Smith Mitchell, one brother G. Dennis Smith and one daughter Sarah Smith Campbell. His family lovingly describes him as a wonderful role model of compassion, generosity, graciousness, and thoughtfulness. He was always welcoming with a smile and a comment of geniune interest. Celebration of Life was held in Denver with family and friends on December 26, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Cambellsville, KY at a later date. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
