Gwendolyn Nethery, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, CO. She was born July 24, 1945, in Chippewa Falls, WI to John and Mollie (Cox) Smith. She was a 1963 graduate of Evergreen High School. She married Robert (Bob) Nethery on October 11, 1969 in KY, and worked for an appraisal firm before retiring.
Gwen enjoyed the simple pleasures in life- such as spending time and chatting with friends and family. Gwen had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was a perfectionist when it came to her home, a talented decorator; a loving and dedicated caregiver to her husband. She was an avid reader, wonderful cook, and inspiring hostess. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine, loved to laugh and was an expert prankster, loved to travel and had wonderful memories of cruising with her husband.
Gwen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, a member in P.E.O. Chapter CV and volunteer at the Ralston House Childrenâs Advocacy Center.
She is survived by her husband Robert Nethery, his child David (Debra) Nethery â FL, his grandchildren James Nethery â GA, Josiah Nethery â FL, and Jennifer Hartman â KY; their daughter Elizabeth (Mark) OâLaughlin â CO, granddaughter Alexandra OâLaughlin â FL, a sister Jeanne (Tom) McKeon â CO, a brother John (Mary) Smith â AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gwen was preceded in death by her step-daughter Alice Jane Nethery.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Gwen touched are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 26, 2018, 4 p.m. at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, 2035 Ellis Street, Golden. Dinner will be served following the service for anyone who would like to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
