Harlan Edward Marsh of Westminster/Thornton, CO, departed this life June 5, 2015 at the age of 95. Harlan was born October 10, 1919, in Kensington, KS. The son of Barton and Mary Marsh, he was the fourth of five children. Harlan was a graduate of Almena High School, class of '37 where he lettered in wrestling. In 1939, while attending college in Salina, KS, Harlan wrestled in an exhibition match against Japanese wrestlers in the U.S. training for the 1940 Olympic Games. Harlan was a veteran of WWII, serving his country in the U.S. Navy from April 1942 through January 1946 as an Aviation Radioman. While stationed in Miami, FL, Harlan met Janet Minerva Mundy, of Sayreville, NJ, who was in Miami visiting her sister. On leave, Harlan would hitchhike from Miami to Sayreville to visit Janet, and the two were married August 14, 1948 in South Amboy, New Jersey. Harlan and Janet moved to Wichita, KS, where their two children, David Harlan and Deborah Jane, were born. In 1958, the family moved to Westminster Colorado. The Marsh family were long-time members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Harlan was also active in serving his community for many years as a member of the Westminster Lions Club. Harlan spent his working career in sales, first at Ines' in Wichita, KS, then in Colorado at Sears, Roebuck & Co., Olinger Mortuary, and most recently at Horan & McConaty, retiring at the age of 82. Harlan was a humble man of strong faith and character who loved his family beyond measure. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 3990 West 74th Avenue, Westminster, CO, with Navy honors to follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, CO.
