Harold ""H.B."" Brewer, Sr. January 12, 1933 - September 26, 2017 Harold âH.Bâ Brewer, age 84 entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, in his home. H.B. was born on January 12, 1933 in Donie, Texas, to the late Claude Brewer and Willie Mae Livingston. On May 30, 1973, he married Jackie W. Brewer in Castle Rock, Colorado. He had been a member of Macedonia Church since 1965. He was compassionate about life, family and friends. He considered his children and grandchildren his special blessings. He helped everyone he could by giving words of advice and was known for his quotes. His grandkids have lasting memories of long talks with their âgrandpaâ and remember some of his favorite quotes: âNever let it rest till the good is better and the better is best.â -Lauren âIâm proud of you, keep it going.â -Brooke âContinue to take care of my great grand babies, youâre doing a good job.â -Maurice âKeep in mind that the same dog that brings a bone will carry one too.â -Zack âRemember, gotta get it out of the mud.â -Brynt âRespect is not given, it is earned. So when talking to a person out of respect, you look them directly in the eye while speaking to them.â-Dante H.B. graduated from Dunbar High School in 1951 and attended Samuel Houston College in Austin, Texas. In September 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He served In two tours, beginning in 1954 when he was shipped to a combat zone in Pusan, Korea. He returned stateside in 1955 and was assigned to Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado. He remained at Lowry AFB for over seven years. In 1961, he was assigned to Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1962. In enlisted in the Air National Guard at Buckley ANG Base, Aurora, Colorado in 1963 and was assigned to the 140th Combat Support Squadron. Shortly after, in 1968, he was recalled to active duty and shipped to Phan Rang, Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. When he returned from Vietnam, he was reassigned to Buckley ANG Base until he retired over 20 years later in January 1986 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was received numerous military honors and medals during his career in the service, such as the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal, to name a few. After he retired, he pursued his passion to support the great City of Denver and his community. He served as a member of the Comprehensive Planning and Advisory Steering Committee for the City and County of Denver. He was Vice President of the North City Park Civic Association. He was Vice President of Linkages Senior Center. He was the Community Liaison for District 8. He served on the Police Citizen Advisory council the Appreciate Policy Board, the Colorado Community Policing Board and the Citizen Advisory Board District 2. He graduated from the Denver Citizen Police Academy at the rank of Honorary Lieutenant. He served as Transportation Committee Chairperson for Councilman Hiawatha Davis Senior Conference. He was a community representative for various city efforts, including the âKeep Denver Beautifulâ program, the light rail development and the Mayorâs Neighborhood Citizen Bond Task Force. He also worked on many political campaigns including The Honorable Hiawatha Davis, Jr, District 8; The Honorable Elbra Wedgeworth, District 8; The Honorable Rosemary Marshall, District 11; the City Auditor, Don Mares; Mayor Wellington E. Webb, The Honorable Wilma J. Webb; The Honorable Gloria Tanner; Mayor Michael Hancock. His son, Harold Brewer, Jr. preceded him in death. But, he has many family and friends who are left to cherish his memory including the love of his life, Jackie Brewer, Denver, Colorado, two daughters, Maria Durant, Denver, Telemmia Jackson, Augusta, Georgia, one son, Thornton Conrad Smith, Jr., eight grandchildren and grandson-in-law, Brooke Greer and Maurice Greer, Brynton Durant, Dante Robinson, Zack Rutherford and Lauren Rutherford, Teisha Shojgreen, Theo Rowland and Tilmon Smith; four great-grandchildren, Maurice âMJâ Greer, Jayden âJJâ Greer, Moriah Greer and Nora Robinson. A Memorial Service will be held in Harold's honor on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3240 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Denver, CO 80205. Interment will be held immediately following at 2:1 5PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area 'C'. Full Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force.
