Harriet Morgan Hixenbaugh passed away December 27, 2010. She was born on September 19, 1923, in Worland, Wyoming to Helen Richards and Noel Gabbert Morgan. She was the middle child of five siblings. She attended Worland schools and graduated as the class Salutatorian from Washakie County High School in 1941. During high school, she worked as a reporter for the Northern Wyoming Daily News, beginning a lifelong career in journalism. Harriet graduated with a BA degree in Journalism from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, in 1945. She married Paul E. Hixenbaugh of Akron, Ohio, May 5, 1946 in Worland. They met in 1943, when Paul was stationed at the university in the Army's Specialized Training Program. After their marriage, the couple lived in Akron while Paul completed work on his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. After his graduation, Paul worked for Goodyear in Akron. Harriet was employed as a service representative at Ohio Bell. The couple moved to Worland in March 1949, when Paul accepted a position with Texas Gulf Sulfur Company. Their four children, Noel, Sheila, Dale and Sharman, were born in Worland. The family moved to Littleton, Colorado in July 1956 when Paul joined the Glenn L. Martin Company. Harriet was a reporter and editor for the Littleton Independent, The Douglas County News Press and the Littleton Times. After her retirement, Harriet volunteered in the Littleton School District and in various programs at Littleton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Untied Methodist Women at the church, Chapter HH, P.E.O., and the Knitters. She enjoyed playing bridge and walking with a congenial group of friends. Paul and Harriet enjoyed traveling, visiting many countries overseas and almost every state. Their motor home took them to many campgrounds in national parks, mountain valleys and tourist meccas. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents Noel and Helen Morgan; daughters Sheila and Sharman; and her brother Leon Morgan. She is survived by her husband Paul; sons Noel of Cascade, Colorado and Dale (Bonnie) of Littleton, Colorado; seven grandsons Paul, Andy (Stephanie), Jason (Jen), Lance, Michael, Travis and Tyler; great-granddaughters Morgan and Jillian; and great grandsons Stephen, Charlie and Micah. She is also survived by her sister Phoebe Trimmer of Sheridan, Wyoming; brothers Al Morgan of Albuquerque, New Mexico and the Reverend Oyer Morgan of East Helena, Montana; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorial Service, with Reception following, to be held Friday, January 7, 2010, 10:00 a.m., both at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 South Datura Street, in Littleton, Colorado.
