Written by Harriet October 20, 2012 Thought for Today: Enjoy every activity you can and then have ""no regrets."" Favorite Bible Verse Romans 8:31 ""If God be for us, who can be against us."" A mixed blessing. Harriet B. Potter was born in the great depression to farmers losing their corps while anticipating a baby. She announced her arrival on July 23, 1934 at North Platte, Nebraska. The banks had closed and kept her parents' savings, but they scraped along and more siblings arrived. In time she grew up, graduated high school and college; married Harry Schaeffer and worked as a speech/language pathologist for 25 years. Two strapping boys were born and matured to make her extremely proud. Life was so good until cancer hit. Then surgery, chemo, life in Denver, close to the boys. Limited good times with family until it hit again, adjusting their thinking as they traveled on toward the sunset. Isaiah 42:6 ""I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people for a light of the Gentiles."" With sadness and genuine gratitude for all they've said and done, Harriet leaves her loving sons, Clint and Jeff; their wonderful wives, Margaret and Karen; grandchildren, Ray and Sarah; three brothers, Tom, Gerald and Loren; one sister, Luella; and many friends. Her philosophy was ""Enjoy every activity you can and then have no regrets."" A Memorial Service will be held in Cortland, Nebraska on Sunday, June 16. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Harriet's name to Agape Hospice Services, 6041 S. Syracuse Way, #220, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111, or to your favorite charity.
