Harriette Agnes Rumbaugh, 92, formerly of Kittanning, PA, died November 6, 2018, at the residence of her son, Stephen, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Harriette was born August 2, 1926 in Parnassus, PA, the daughter of Albert Martin Hildebrandt and Stanislawa (Stella) Nowacynski, who immigrated to the United States in his 20's and her teens.
Harriette obtained an Associates Degree from Butler Business School and worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Associates Finance Company before marrying John (Jack) Boyd Rumbaugh on June 14, 1947. They moved from Butler, PA to Kittanning, where they owned and operated the Kittanning Consumer Discount Company. Harriette's primary occupation was a homemaker, but also worked for a few years at the Armstrong County Reading Lab as a Reading Assistant. The couple retired to Ormond Beach FL in 1987.
The couple had four children: Rebecca Ristuccia of Andover, MA; Karen Flynn of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Michele Kinshella of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Stephen of Highlands Ranch, CO. A great lady, Harriette's memory will be cherished by her children, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Harriette was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kittanning and Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach. She also volunteered for the Auxiliary at a local hospital in Ormond Beach. Her hobbies included needlepoint, gardening, antique collecting, reading, and her children would tell you, cleaning ""with hot, soapy water"". She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Jack, who died Aug. 31, 2004; brothers Edward, Anthony, Henry and Leonard; and sisters, Helen, Minnie, Marie, Goldie, and Irene.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Save the Children charity, www.savethechildren.org.
