Harry James Javernick, Jr., Lakewood, CO passed away at home on February 27, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. Harry was born on April 13, 1936 to Harry and Mary Javernick in Canon City, CO. He is a graduate of the Abbey of the Holy Cross in Canon City, CO and the University of Colorado where he played football for the Buffaloes. In 2004, he was honored as a CU Living Legend. He was a 12th round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns and played two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1962. He began a 44-year career with what was then Ideal Cement Company, rising through the ranks to become Vice President of Manufacturing of the Western Region for what is now Holcim, Ltd. He will be remembered for his pursuit of the perfect golf game, his play-through-the-pain approach to life, his humble leadership, and his large heart. Preceding him in death are his mother, father and his brother Frank. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Karen; 3 children, Gregory Javernick (Susan Foster), Julie Javernick (Keith Brunel) and Gary Javernick (Gena); three grandchildren, Justin Javernick (Abigail), Cory Javernick (Shelby) and Abby Javernick; 1 great granddaughter, Avery and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Requiem Mass will be held at Saint Jude Catholic Church, Lakewood, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Harry's name be made to the charity of your choice.
