Harry Arthur Pippin

Harry Arthur Pippin, 92, was surrounded by his family when he left this earth on November 15, 2018. He was the fifth of eight children, born on January 2, 1926, to Mildred & Roy Pippin in Keenesburg. Colorado.
Following graduation in Keenesburg in 1944, he entered the U.S. Navy and served as a torpedo man on the submarine USS Whale. He was honorably discharged June 15, 1946, returning to Keenesburg to work as a farm hand in south Roggen, and as a janitor at the United Methodist Church and The Citizens State Bank.
In 1947, he met Barbara Jane Gantt, whom he married in 1948. Harry utilized the GI Bill and graduated from Parks Business School in Denver. He began a distinguished 35 year banking career with Citizens State Bank starting out as janitor and retiring as President and Chairman of the Board. He also attended the CU âSchool of Bankingâ.
Harry had deep roots in the Keenesburg community as his grandparents homesteaded just three miles east of Keenesburg. During his life he served as an officer on several boards: President and CEO of Citizens State Bank, President of the School Board which consolidated three school districts, President of the Keenesburg Chamber of Commerce, helped form and served as Secretary of the SE Weld Fire Protection District, S.E Weld County Health Assoc. AKA as the Keene Clinic, charter member of the Keenesburg/Roggen Lions Club, Honorary FFA member, Elks Lodge in Brighton, Masonic Lodge, the American Legion Post 180 as well as the Community United Methodist Church.
Harry will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind man who kept his word and was generous with his time, talents and possessions. He was married to his loving wife Barbara for 70 years; they had six children, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughters Diana (Jack) Epple, Melody (Randy) Yeager, Trudy Cocroft (David Bauer), his sonâs Michael (Judy) Pippin, Rob (Rhonda) Pippin and Steve (Brenda) Pippin, all residing locally.
Memorial Service Friday, December 7, 2018, 10:00 am, Community United Methodist Church, 195 Main St., Keenesburg, CO 80643. Graveside Service, 2:30 pm, Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Area B.
