Harry Arthur Thut, Jr. (Skeeter to his family and friends) passed away on May 7, 2016 at the Denver Hospice after a brief battle with lung cancer and complications due to a stroke and diabetes. During all of his illnesses he never complained and was looking forward to going ""home to be with the Lord."" He was a kind sweet man who will be missed by those who knew him. Skeeter was born February 28, 1947 in Oakland, California. After graduating high school in Newark, California he proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967. After brief careers in other areas he retired after working for 28 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, California. One of his proudest accomplishments was teaching Romans in Sunday School at Big Valley Grace Community Church in Modesto, California. Skeeter loved the Lord and one of his passions was biblical research. His other interests included music of all kinds, watching movies and reading. He was an avid sports fan and after moving to Colorado from California he quickly became a Broncos fan. Skeeter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Parker Thut; daughter Dory Tucker and grandsons Redmond Tucker and Samuel Tucker of Modesto, California; son Aaron Thut and daughter-in-law Vera Thut of Commerce City, Colorado; mother Idella Thut of Jamestown, California; brother Dan Thut of Jamestown and sister Julia Burden and her husband John of Anderson, South Carolina. He also leaves behind a mother-in-law, Doris Parker, sisters-in-law Janice Parker and Judy Parker as well as nieces and nephews who love him. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Arthur Thut, Sr.. Skeeter will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Service has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on July 11, 2016. Donations may be made in his honor to the Denver Hospice, The American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
