Harry Davis Whitner, Jr. passed away Monday, January 10, 2005. Harry was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1926 to Harry D. and Mary Whitner. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduation from High School. After World War II, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology at Dartmouth College in Hanover, R.I. Harry had a successful career as a geologist in Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Colorado. He also contributed as a member of many fine philanthropic organizations over the years, and especially enjoyed his volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Whitner is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; daughter, Lee Ann; son, Harry D., III (Dave); daughter-in-law, Michelle; and granddaughter, Claire; also a brother, C.K. in Reading, PA and a sister, Patricia Rothwell in Vero Beach, FL. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, 3:00 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
