Harry E. Wilhelm

Harry Ernest Wilhelm was born July 12, 1925 to Henry and Katie Wilhelm. As the second of three children, older brother Raymond and younger sister Shirley preceded him in death. He was a native of the Globeville neighborhood of Denver, attending Horris Mann Middle School and graduated from North High School in 1942. Upon graduation he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was drafted into the Army Air Corp on January 29, 1944 and served as a Medical Corpsman. He was assigned to various military facilities; Fort Myers, Florida; Biloxi, Mississippi; Maxwell Field, Alabama; and Camp Bunter, North Carolina. He was Honorably Discharged on March 19, 1946 at the Fort Logan Separation Center in Denver. Upon returning to civilian life he returned to his job at the Union Pacific Railroad and attended the University of Colorado for 4 years as a pre-med student, but dropped out soon after his first day at the morgue. Shortly thereafter he began his career as a theatre manager in the Denver Metro area working for 20th Century Fox at the Rialto, Paramount, Fox Aurora, Mayan, and Center theatres. He married Phyllis Miklich on November 28, 1947 who preceded him in death on August 10, 1962. In August of 1956 he started working in the shipping room for the Public Service Company of Colorado, ending his career after 30 years on August 1, 1986 as a Materials Control Specialist. He married his wife Eileen Olson on September 1, 1963. Harry passed away on June 23, 2011 and leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, two sons Gary and Paul (wife Shannon), and grandchildren Ella, Ander and Deagan. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011, 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 3350 White Bay Drive, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Fort Logan National Cemetery ~ Pavilion ""A"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, Colorado. Memorials may be made in Harry's name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o El Jebel Shrine, 4625 West 50th Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80212.
