Harvey William Curtis, 71, of Larkspur, passed away peacefully while being surrounded by the comfort of his family on May 30th at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He was born on March 30th, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa to George Harold and Marjorie (Knaak) Curtis. Harvey graduated from Iowa State University in 1970 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering after in which he worked for four years as an engineer before earning his M.B.A from the University of Denver in 1974 and a J.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1977. Harvey became licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado in 1977 and started his own law firm, Harvey W. Curtis and Associates, in 1983 that specialized in land use, water rights, and natural resource law. He is a recipient of the United States Department of the Army Commander's Award for Public Service. Harvey married Marlene (Schroeder) Curtis on May 9th, 1987 with whom he enjoyed a happy marriage. He is also survived by his children, Leah Curtis, Colin Curtis, and Lauryn Curtis; a grand- daughter, Ella Christopher; a sister, Nancy (Robert) Lyon; three brothers, Mark (Marilyn) Curtis, Gregory (Suzie) Curtis, and Terry (Vicky) Curtis; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Curtis. Harvey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Visitation Friday, June 8, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Rd., Centennial. Funeral Service is Saturday, June 9, 2018, 10:30am, Epiphany Lutheran Church, 550 E. Wolfensberger Rd., Castle Rock. A Reception will take place at the church following the service. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Castle Rock.
