Helen A. Bigley, 88, passed away at Collier (Lutheran) Hospice on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 after a long illness. Born August 11, 1928 in Grainfield, Kansas, Helen moved with her family to Denver, Colorado in the early 1940's. After graduation she worked at Magill Fishing and Tackle. When the company closed, Helen went to work at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. She was a hard working and dedicated employee and when Mountain Bell merged with AT&T, she stayed on. Helen retired, after forty years, in 1992. Helen is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Francisco) Vega, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Peter & Teresa Brungardt, her husband Harold Bigley, her brothers Gilbert, Gregory, Valentine, and Elmer, and also her sons Robert, Joseph and John. Services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, beginning at 10:45 am. The viewing will begin at 10:15, the rosary will start at 10:45, and the Catholic mass will begin at 11:00 am. All services will be held at the Horan & McConaty Chapel at 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado. Burial will follow the mass at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""A"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado at 1:00 PM. All relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Reception will follow the closing services at Fort Logan. Location of the reception is still to be determined, but we will have the information available Thursday.
