Helen Delaney

February 16, 1935 — February 22, 2021

Helen Higgins Delaney, started life as Helen Leah Light.  She was born in Braggadocio, Missouri on February 16, 1935 to Arie Lee Light, and Ida Johnson Light.  Due to the untimely death of her mother on June 28th, 1938, she was adopted April 28th, 1939 by Harvey James Higgins and Marna Higgins.  She had a wonderful childhood in Provo, Utah, where she met and married Frederick Amtoft Spalding on November 19, 1954.  After having 6 children, they divorced January 15, 1968.  Helen married Milton J. Delaney October 8th, 1971.  They had 1 child together, John, and on November 16th, 1972, Milt adopted all of her children:  Sheri, Debra, Kelly, Milton, Brian and Christopher for a total of 7 children in the Delaney bunch.  She became a widow on February 6th, 1976.  She retired from US West March 27, 1994.  She was very active and loved to bowl, dance, sing, strum the ukulele, travel and shop until she had a severe stroke June 7th, 2004.  She worked hard to recover but needed 24/7 care the rest of her life.  She is survived by her children, many grandchildren, some great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.  She was an inspiration to her family and taught them to pray and the right way to live.  She left for heaven on February 22, 2021.  She will be sorely missed but promised to greet each of her loved ones when it’s their time to go into the eternal light.
